About Lumbini Banijya Campus
Lumbini Banijya Campus (LBC), established in 1982 A.D., is one of the leading community campuses in western Nepal, located in Butwal. Since its inception, the campus has been committed to delivering quality management education and fostering academic excellence.
The campus initially operated from the Butwal Municipality Building, offering Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) programs in the morning shift. Expanding its academic horizon, LBC introduced Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) in 1986 with an initial enrollment of 42 students. In 2001, the campus further strengthened its academic profile by launching the Master of Business Studies (MBS) program, gradually phasing out PCL programs.
Recognized for its academic excellence, LBC received Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) from the University Grants Commission (UGC), Nepal in 2012, followed by re-accreditation in 2018 and its third accreditation in 2025. These milestones reflect the campus’s continuous commitment to maintaining high educational standards.
Following accreditation, the campus introduced innovative and market-oriented programs under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University, including Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) in 2014 and MBA in Banking and Finance (MBA-BF) in 2017 as autonomous programs. Over time, LBC has expanded its academic offerings to include programs such as BMS, BBM-A, BBA-FA, MBS-F, and others, catering to diverse academic and professional needs.
Lumbini Banijya Campus is well-equipped with modern academic facilities, including a resourceful library with over 36,000 textbooks, e-library services, computer laboratories, and a digital learning environment. The campus emphasizes not only theoretical knowledge but also practical exposure through fieldwork, research activities, seminars, conferences, and industry collaboration.
To ensure holistic development, LBC has multiple academic departments such as Finance, Management and Marketing, Accountancy, Economics and Statistics, IT, and Business Communication, along with dedicated cells like the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Research Management Cell, and Entrepreneurship Development Cell.
The campus actively promotes research and innovation through international conferences, publications, and student research initiatives. It has also built strong partnerships with national and international academic institutions and business organizations to enhance learning opportunities and student employability.
LBC has received several prestigious recognitions, including:
- Best Community Campus Award (2018 & 2023) by the Ministry of Education, Nepal
- State Academic Award (2019) from Lumbini Province
- Best Province Business Award (2022)
With a strong focus on entrepreneurship, skill development, and placement support, the campus operates initiatives such as the Entrepreneur Incubation Centre, startup programs, and industry collaborations to prepare students for real-world challenges.
Today, with a diverse student body and a team of qualified faculty members, Lumbini Banijya Campus continues its journey toward becoming a center of excellence, with ongoing initiatives aimed at achieving “Deemed University” status and expanding into new academic schools.
